Meet & Greet + Pilates Class w/Olympian Karen Courtland Kelly

Prepare for an enlightening experience in this special 1-hour class led by Karen Courtland Kelly, a former American pair skater who won the bronze medal at the US Figure Skating Championships in 1993 & competed in the 1994 Winter Olympic Games.

We will start with an introduction of Karen's career, including the reasons that led her to incorporate Pilates as a healing practice. She will then lead us through an introductory Pilates class.

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, Pilates focuses on strengthening the core, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body alignment. It is a distinct discipline from yoga, emphasizing core strength, controlled movements, and enhanced flexibility. It is renowned for its ability to improve posture and body awareness, and targeting deep muscles, leaving you feeling taller, leaner, and stronger. At the end of the workshop, there will be time for Q&A.

Whether you are new to Pilates or a seasoned practitioner, everyone will get something out of this fascinating hour!

Karen Courtland Kelly is a former American pair skater who won the bronze medal at the US Figure Skating Championships in 1993 & finished 14th at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. She trained directly with the legendary Romana Kryzanowska in New York City to complete her Pilates certification, and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her classes. Romana, a protégé of Joseph Pilates himself, played a pivotal role in preserving and passing on the authentic Pilates method. Karen currently works with artists and athletes of all ages and abilities & has over 29 years of teaching experience.
