  • Katia Mintcheva

    Katia Mintcheva

Born and raised in Bulgaria in a health-oriented family, I have always been interested in alternative therapies as a way to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I remember from a young age being interested in Chinese medicine, Tai Chi, Chi Gong, energy healing, acupressure and acupuncture.

I learned about Reiki and met the first Reiki Master in Bulgaria. Shortly after, my family and I moved to the United States. Following my interests, led me to Loving Touch Center - the first Reiki school in Long Island. It took me 3 years, and in 2003 I got certified as a Reiki Master Practitioner/Teacher.

Searching for a place to learn Shiatsu, brought me to New York College of Health Professions where I completed the 1,000 hours Massage Therapy Program and graduated in 2008 as a licensed Massage Therapist.

During the many years of practicing as a massage therapist, I have worked in different places ranging from a chiropractic office to health centers to spas. My passion for massage therapy and my natural curiosity led me to taking many classes in Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone Therapy, Cupping, Thai Ball Massage, Pain Elimination Technique, and Sport Massage.

Through listening and thoughtful communication, I combine my clinical education in all these modalities, in order to provide a thorough, soothing, and effective massage. I am always open to learning, so I can best help my clients wellness needs, and have deep love and passion for what I do. My work can benefit elderly, athletes, chronic pain and migraine sufferers, and anyone seeking overall wellness of being.

“Katia, thank you for another fabulous massage. The long-held tension in my muscles melted away thanks to your magic hands and the calming environment. I’m already looking forward to my next appointment!” ~ KPD

“Mrs. Katia Mintcheva is my Massage Therapist with whom I schedule appointments on a regular monthly basis. I have enjoyed her professional talent and service for more than seven years. • Irene Riedl

I am a dedicated licensed Massage Therapist and cosmetologist with a rich history of serving the Adirondack community. Growing up in Lake Placid I developed a deep connection to the natural world and a strong foundation that infuses my holistic approach to wellness. I earned my massage therapy degree from North Country Community College and furthered my education at O’Brien’s Aveda Institute in Burlington, VT.

My professional journey included, managing and contributing to esteemed day spa and salons in both Lake Placid and Burlington for over 15 years. I owned and operated Origins Day Spa And Salon in Keene and later in Jay NY, providing a full spectrum of salon and spa services from expert hair care, facials, cosmetics and specialized body treatments using natural products.

Prior to my career in wellness, I studied Ecology and Environmental Technology fostering a profound understanding of the interconnectedness of nature and the human body. This foundation of knowledge has proven to be in a continuous pursuit of advanced modalities to addressing pain, promoting healing and managing stress through mind, body and spirit influences. I am always trying to integrate new techniques or methods that can help to break pain cycles and improve overall well-being. I currently live with my family at our farm where we cultivate a lifestyle centered around natural wellness. I love my family, animals, gardening, creating new farm style products like soaps and lotions, and pursuing online classes to expand my knowledge of essential oils, herbs and natural health techniques to help empower myself and my clients to deliver a healthier, more balanced way of life.

“Irene is a wonderful massage therapist. She is kind, attentive, and has always tried to ensure that she is giving her best - inquiring about any pain, chronic health issues, and my immediate concerns. Irene fosters a peaceful, warm, and relaxing environment where I have always felt comfortable, which has enabled me to thoroughly enjoy the massage and its restorative benefits.” ~ Sue P.

“I recommend Irene Riedl as a masseuse and to do facials. I was a faithful client of Irene’s in Keene and then in Jay. She styled my hair for many years. She also did massages for me and my family members. Irene has a very calming way about her. The atmosphere she provides is very relaxing.” ~ Margaret H.

FAQs

  • Our goal is for you to feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and fantastic from the moment you step through our doors. When you arrive, your massage therapist will greet you warmly and guide you through the process. You'll be able to communicate your massage preferences, target areas of tension, and discuss any concerns. Then you can simply sit back, unwind, and let the stress melt away as your therapist works their magic.

  • There's no one-size-fits-all answer, as massage frequency really depends on your individual needs and goals. Many people find that weekly or bi-weekly massages help them manage chronic pain, reduce stress, and maintain their overall well-being. Others opt for monthly sessions as a way to treat themselves. The great news is you can mix and match our various massage styles to create a self-care routine that works best for you.

  • Comfort is key! We recommend wearing loose, breathable clothing that's easy to move around in. Most people prefer to undress to their level of comfort, with many opting to keep their underwear on. Your massage therapist will make sure you are properly draped and covered at all times, ensuring your privacy and modesty are maintained throughout the session.

  • Absolutely! Our experienced massage therapists are experts at customizing the pressure and techniques to suit each client's individual needs, including first-timers. We encourage you to communicate openly with your therapist about any areas of concern or discomfort, so they can ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. If you have any pre-existing health conditions, we always recommend checking in with your doctor before receiving a massage, just to be on the safe side.
