Approaching Balance

This will be predominantly a practice of standing postures to help us to cultivate the capacity to meet any moment with equipoise.

We will bring our awareness to a fundamental of balance: everything pulses.

Life contracts and expands again and again.

In Autumn, some trees naturally release their leaves in a beautiful display of this process. Even while changing, the tree is steadfast throughout the seasons, like yourself.

In the standing postures, we deepen our connection to how we go forward step by step - turning into ourselves again and again, even while we expand our connection to all of Life in the process.

In this workshop, join Michael, step by step, as you explore together how to improve your balance through movement. This will be predominantly a practice of standing postures to help us to cultivate the capacity to meet any moment with equipoise. When we walk, hike or run, EACH movement is a subtle balance, and as we age, preventing falls becomes a challenge and balancing becomes the focus.

Regardless of your ability, you will learn what it takes to stay balanced in your stride to prevent falls and to become stronger over all. This new strength will create freedom and ease in your movement. Even if you “don’t do yoga”, this workshop can help you improve your balance!

Meet Your Instructor:

Michael Fergot is a 500-hour registered yoga teacher YACEP and has been a student of "being human" for decades. He has been teaching yoga for over 20 years.  Since Michael and his wife Wendy moved to Westport full time in 2017, he has continued teaching in several studios in NY and VT.  During the pandemic zoom classes became the norm. In the last couple of years, it has been especially delightful to gather in person, in community again and share this journey together.  Truly, yoga is for every body, and for every season of our lives.
