Experience-driven

NewVida operates both as a destination property for tourists AND a gathering place for the local community. Our goal is to make the Preserve a destination in itself, full of experiences that are immersive, interactive and celebrate what is native to the Preserve and Community. The experiences span from Adventure, which includes mountain biking, alpine touring and hiking, to Wellness, which includes yoga, Pilates, massage therapy & Reiki, to the Arts, which includes music, painting and dance- all provided by a talented team in an incredible setting.

Central Location

We are centrally located to familiar townships in the Lake Placid Area and provide an experience that is more private and unique. Spanning the towns of Jay and Wilmington, the Preserve is conveniently centrally located with only 7 minutes to Olympic grade skiing at Whiteface, 10-25 minutes to the towns of Keene, Lake Placid & Saranac Lake, and 40 min to Plattsburgh, the main access point for private charters and commercial flights.

Rich History & Architecture

With its soaring 50ft-high traditional A-frame architecture, exposed original beams, and striking brick and copper fireplaces, the NewVida Lodge is a memorable central gathering place and gateway to the Preserve. The history is palpable in its architecture and design. NewVida Preserve operated for 3 decades as Paleface, a charming ski mountain with great snow, 5 lifts and 44 runs. Not only do the majority of the ski runs remain today, but so do the former bull wheels, ski warming huts, lean to’s and cabins that you can still explore. We’re grateful to give it new life.

Vast Mountain Preserve

With 35+ miles of well-established trails for hiking, climbing, biking and alpine touring, the Preserve is a unique destination in itself. Right on the property, you can explore several summits, climbing cliffs, seasonal cascades, year-round creeks, towering mature forests and vast open fields with a thriving ecosystem and wildlife. Right from the property, you can enjoy 11 miles of mountain biking on the adjacent Hardy Trails or embark on multi-day backpacking excursions into the 6.5 million acres that constitute the Adirondack Park.
